For those in marketing, the San Diego American Marketing Association is known for hosting valuable learning forums throughout San Diego. A new regional event will be held May 17th, titled The Art of Marketing – a workshop for marketing professionals to gain in-depth knowledge from speakers and panels and participate in hands-on training intensives.
SDAMA member Lori Enfield asked the Studio to become involved as in-kind sponsors to create branding for the event. The chapter’s goal was to create buzz at other AMA events, on their website and via email marketing. Due to a full calendar of other activities within the city, the branding for this conference needed to stand out.
From our creative meetings, the branding initiative was based on the event tag line, “Connect. Learn. Color our World.” The consensus was to incorporate art into the logo with inspiration gained from The Museum of Modern Art and graphic artist Stefen Sagmeister‘s “Money Does Not Make Me Happy” campaign. The result is a bold, contemporary logo using primary colors red, green and blue (RGB).
Often event marketing material is over-intellectualized and puts too much emphasis on the number of sessions, attendees, educational credits, speaker bios, economic impact data, etc. For this event, successive promotional pieces including fliers, postcards, bookmarks and email marketing and posters were designed to complete the branding effort.
“In design, creating an emotional connection with people is the first step in capturing their attention and drawing them into your product or service,” said Nanette Newbry, Principal and Creative Director of Studio 2055. “Lori is a great collaborator and made the process easy for us.”
“Studio 2055 has provided vision and clarity in developing the Art of Marketing brand and messaging,” noted Lori. “The team excels at developing creative that clearly conveys the essence of a brand to a specific audience. They are talented, deliver on time, and are a joy to work with.”
