Young professionals and graduates who join Comet Creative’s internship program, launch their careers by diving right into collaborative design projects. Interns literally work side-by-side with our designers to understand how design benefits our clients, and to learn the language of brand strategy. Over the years, we’ve mentored many interns who have left the firm and joined prestigious companies or agencies—some even in other countries.
One of the most interesting areas they are anxious to learn is how an agency operates. Because of our small size, interns are able to get hands-on experience by attending client strategy meetings, developing the right project management skills and observing the studio’s daily operations.
CC Says Hi to Meli!
This summer, our firm is happy to say welcome to Melissa “Meli” Nguyen who just joined our team as our graphic-design intern. Meli grew up with a love for fanciful animal and monster characters by playing video games and collecting character-themed stationery. That is where her passion for graphic design was born, as it has been her dream to one day open her own character-themed store. After graduating in December 2016 with a B.A. in Graphic Design from San Diego State University, Meli began to make her dream come to life.
“I am so excited to grow my design skills and work in a creative team environment like Comet Creative this summer!” —Meli Nguyen
After freelancing graphic design and illustration work for two years, character design and branding have become Meli’s specialty. Her “get it done attitude” turned her dream into reality. She has her own online stationery shop where she designs and sells stickers, pins and prints of her artwork. When she’s not obsessing over character design and playing video games, she enjoys watching movies and shows, reading mystery novels and traveling.
While at Comet Creative, Meli will use her knowledge to grow her online business and have a better understanding of the best business practices. She is the consummate designer. Her astute eye for spatial relationships, color and typography will benefit any project she works on.
