Nanette’s encaustic monotype entitled “Reaching the Living” was accepted by juror Daniel Foster into the San Diego Art Institute’s 52nd Annual Art Exhibition. Her work was selected from over 1,200 submissions with the final show consisting of about 90 pieces.
The opening reception is to be held this Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 6-8 pm, at the Institute’s gallery in Balboa Park. The exhibition is the only all-media internationally promoted exhibition of its type in the region. It runs through May 26.
The juror for the exhibition was Daniel Foster, Executive Director at the Oceanside Museum of Art. Mr. Foster has a 25-year career in innovative fine and contemporary arts, and has been at the helm of numerous art institutions including the Riverside Art Museum and the University Gallery at UCSD.
Nanette has been working in encaustic since 2005 and last year began a series on encaustic monotypes. “My work is very much about the process. Most often the final work is a discovery of actions and decisions I make during the artmaking.” Congrats Nanette!
